The annual Kodiak Crab Festival began in 1958. It was originally begun to help market the then new King Crab industry which was not a well known commodity at the time. Over the years it has developed into a 5-day event. You’ll find food, carnival rides, survival suit races, Coast Guard rescue demonstrations, a Fisherman’s Memorial Service to honor those lost at sea, a large art exhibit and lots more. The event is hosted by the Kodiak Chamber of Commerce. For more information: 907-486-5557.
